PJM has initiated a stakeholder process to enhance energy price formation, as described in PJM’s paper Proposed Enhancements to Energy Price Formation and the related problem statement and issue charge.
All three will be discussed at the Dec. 7, 2017, Markets & Reliability Committee meeting (which will be considered the first reading of the problem statement and issue charge).
PJM understands this is a complex topic. To help members gain a fuller understanding of price formation, PJM is offering a series of education sessions. PJM recommends attending all sessions as each session builds on information from the last.
Session One: Economic Dispatch: Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, 9 a.m.–Noon
Session Two: Alternate Energy Pricing Frameworks: Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, 1–4 p.m.
Session Three: Reserves and Co-optimization: Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, 9 a.m.–Noon
Session Four: Shortage Pricing and Operating Reserve Demand Curve: Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, 1–4 p.m.
All sessions will be recorded and posted on pjm.com.
