PJM stakeholders involved with system planning now have a centralized resource to connect with other stakeholders and PJM – Planning Community, which debuted at the Sept. 14 Planning Committee meeting.
The first tool of its kind for grid operators, Planning Community is an online collaborative central resource for planning-related information and exchanges between stakeholders and PJM. Stakeholders can get updates on answers to their planning-related questions and receive notifications when new planning windows open.
Participants in the online community will be able to read articles, ask questions when they run into planning-related issues, as well as share their solutions to other community participants. Members can both interact with PJM subject matter experts and interact and collaborate with each other.
Planning Community offers interactivity, enhanced security, better alerts and notifications, and tagging issues to allow stakeholders to follow specific topics of interest.
PJM developed the tool as part of its effort to improve the Regional Transmission Expansion Plan process. Stakeholders had requested that PJM develop a tool to increase transparency into the RTEP process and the Transmission Expansion Advisory Committee.
Members who request access to the Member Community will automatically be signed up to receive access to the Planning Community as well. In addition, PJM said it will continue to take feedback and make enhancements.
