More than 1,000 members are now part of PJM – marking a new milestone to the 90-year anniversary celebration. At this morning’s Members Committee meeting, PJM announced that there are now 1,007 members.
In the 20 years since becoming an independent organization, PJM has grown from 86 to over 1,000 members. Growth is attributed largely to having open, competitive markets that attract diverse participants and to the value PJM provides to members. More competition means greater efficiency and lower costs for consumers.
PJM leaders said that growing to 1,000 members demonstrates that diverse electric industry participants recognize the value and benefits PJM provides to them. Together with its members, PJM saves the economy between $2.8 billion and $3.1 billion annually in how it operates the grid.
