PJM has processed tens of thousands of megawatts in generation resources for interconnection as part of its transition to an improved interconnection process.
A new fact sheet (PDF) details the progress of reforms that were implemented in July 2023 following approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and. PJM is down to 63,000 MW of projects in its transition queue that began with approximately 200,000 MW in projects. These remaining projects will be fully processed 2025 and 2026.
Under the new rules, developers can expect a one- to two-year turnaround time.
Currently, there are about 46,000 MW of projects with agreements to begin operating, some of which are being hindered by supply chain issues, siting and permitting challenges, and other factors outside of PJM’s control.
The fact sheet will be updated on a regular basis until Cycle 1 of the new process begins in spring of 2026.
