PJM Interconnection opened the bidding window for its annual capacity auction today, June 8. This auction procures capacity for the June 2023 through May 2024 Delivery Year.
The bidding window will close June 14, and the results will be reported on June 21 after 4 p.m.
PJM’s capacity market, called the Reliability Pricing Model, helps to ensure long-term grid reliability by competitively securing the appropriate amount of power supply resources needed to meet predicted energy demand on a three-year-forward basis.
The 2023/2024 auction was scheduled to take place in May 2020, but auctions had been suspended while FERC considered approval of new capacity market rules.
