PJM members honored Chief Financial Officer Suzanne Daugherty Thursday as she presided over her last Markets & Reliability Committee meeting in advance of her April 1 retirement.
Praise for Daugherty’s dedication, leadership and patience came from members and PJM officials who have worked alongside her through many complex and difficult issues over her more than two decades at PJM.
“I know the members very much appreciated all you gave to us,” said Steve Lieberman, vice-chair of the Members Committee.
Daugherty, who joined PJM in 1998, was recognized for her distinguished career. She managed numerous groups throughout the PJM organization, including Business Planning & Rates and the Controllership. Since 2004, she has been vice president, CFO and treasurer, and in 2013 she was named senior vice president.
Daugherty has been a familiar face at PJM stakeholder meetings, tasked with leading discussions on complex technical issues as the chair of PJM’s Markets & Reliability Committee and Finance Committee.
“Her first and foremost thought was always, ‘Do the right thing’ – and then the remainder of the conversation was, ‘How do we get there,’” said Stu Bresler, senior vice president – Operations and Markets. “Anyone looking for a role model would do well to follow her example,” Bresler said.
Daugherty sponsored the first women’s employee resource group at PJM, and has taken a leadership role in promoting women’s role in the industry. She is also active in the community, as a member of the board of directors for Pope John Paul II High School in Royersford, Pa.
